No, Yahoo! Assets does not have a list of all publicly traded companies, but if you go to Industry Browser, you can see the companies by industry.

This will give me a stock quote for today's date. How do I get a quote from a past date. Like Jan 4, 2001 ?
After you have put in a ticker representative of, look at the left side of the site. Under Quotes, click on Historical Prices. You can specify a date range and get the prices on those dates.
