Better to invest in Vanguard 500 Stock Index Fund or Total Stock Market Index Fund?

I am a childlike investor interested in investing in a roth IRA and am interested in the Vanguard relations.
Currently my IRA is with a bank with a very low interest rate. I have researching separate funds and like Vanguards no stuff index funds.

"More safely a improved" is a opinion. If you mean that you're current to put all your IRA into just the one fund, consider the target-assignation funds. That will also give you some exposure to international stocks and stationary-income assets.

I am a 28 year recently un-employed Old Manful (I dont mark I will have much the time getting a job in the next few months due to exertion knowledge and a bachelors lengths) from Georgia. I have managed to lay a sparse bit of gain over 4 years or so. I about have 23K in A overall Reciprocal Fund Acct (Vanguard Total Stock Market Index), 13K in a Roth IRA and ,300 in a Rollover IRA. I also have 50K in a Savings Acct with a 1.05 APY. I wanted to get some trained view on what to do with my 23K in my public Acct (Since I dont have any assurance in the market virtuous now: I dont concoct this ricochet in the market will last much longer due to the next wavelet of foreclosures is coming).
